About the Nursery
Small Wonders Lea Green has been purpose built to provide outstanding facilities to children. Our Nursery has been purposefully designed to create naturally inspiring environments that encourages your child to play and explore, to discover and grow. We offer affordable and flexible childcare along with free places for two, three and four year old children. Here at Small Wonders we are committed to meeting the needs of children at every stage of development, from babies to school aged children. Our opening hours are 7.30am till 6.00pm for 52 weeks of the year.
The setting is registered with Ofsted for 116 children including children up to the age of 11 providing families with out of school hours and holiday care.
Our Baby Room is open and engaging; catering for children between the ages of 0 to two years. The room is purposefully built to be a nurturing and caring environment for your little ones. Our resources have been hand selected to encourage exploration and investigation. Non-mobile babies benefit from resources suited to their needs such as soft play mats, mobiles, bouncers and there very own cosy corner.
Our Baby Room staff are specifically qualified to work with children under the age of two, and will fully support you throughout the weaning process; from bottle feeding to solids. As our setting is purpose built our baby room includes a bottle preparation area where strict sterilisation procedures are followed for formula bottle feeds and weaning systems.
We also home a separate sleeping room where little ones can rest during the day undisturbed from the hustle and bustle of nursery life. As your little ones get older we cater for those first steps and celebrate those crucial milestones. The room offers continuous provision such as messy activities, home corner, treasure baskets and construction. We also provide a private garden just for your little ones which is specifically dedicated to our 0 to 2 year olds. This is a quiet outdoor space which allows our babies to explore and investigate the world around them.
Our toddler department is designed to be a safe, supportive, and most of all; a fun surrounding for your inquisitive two year olds. We aim to secure a broad and balanced curriculum that provides your little ones with the best possible learning opportunities and experiences. We teach children to be independent by promoting self help skills, and our dedicated staff team will provide help, support and useful tips and strategies when the time comes for potty training. We operate continuous provision including paint, sand, water, small world, role play, construction and mark making and much more. We follow the child's interests and build individual planning files to meet children’s needs, thus enhancing and enriching learning.
Our Pre School department is a large and open classroom which promotes all seven areas of learning including a small world area, book and reading corner, number area, role play area, information technology area, construction area and creative area.
Through the seven areas of learning children will be supported in reaching their full potential and achieving their goals. Staff will ensure each child will have a wide range of experienced knowledge to draw upon when they enter school. Our pre School staff are highly qualified and motivated who work together collaboratively to deliver a high standard of learning opportunities which encourage growth, diversity and a strong sense of purpose. The setting has a qualified early years teacher on site who are responsible for the delivery of education for children aged 3-5 and will support your child's transition into key stage 1.
Children across the nursery experience a broad and balanced curriculum which is based on learning through play. Children also benefit from weekly planning, an enrichment programme, enhanced provision, and nursery trips to enhance their learning. We welcome children who are not yet toilet trained as we have the onsite facilities to change children. We also accept that children develop at different stages and we will do all we can to help with this process.
We have three outdoor areas which consist of our Baby Garden, Potting and Planting Area and our Main Garden Area; which includes a sheltered gazebo area to help children access outdoor learning no matter the weather. All our departments have free flow access to our outdoors classrooms which allows continuous use of the great outdoors. Our Outdoor Areas are a secure and friendly place for children to nourish and grow.
